Frequently Asked Questions

What Should I Expect at a Saturday Collection?

These Saturday collections are set-up in a drive through system.  Plenty of personnel will be available to help you unload.  You do not need to get out of your car.

  1. At the site, look for an area sectioned off with orange traffic cones and large boxes

  2. Enter at the area marked "Entrance"

  3. Pull your car into the service lane behind any other waiting cars.  If there is a line, you may need to wait for service

  4. When the attendant approaches you, roll down your window and identify the items that you have, particularly the items that have fees associated with them

  5. Pop your truck latch or unlock your doors, depending on where your materials are in the
    vehicle

  6. You will probably be asked a few questions such as "Where do you live" and "How did you hear about this event"

  7. The attendant will provide you with a cost (if any) and accept your payment

  8. The attendant will then instruct the other staff people to unload your vehicle for you

  9. Once all of the items have been removed, you are free to go

What Happens to Equipment After Collection?

The contractor will first assess items for reuse potential and functionality.  Devices may be refurbished by the contractor and distributed for reuse.*  The hard drives of computers will be shredded for your protection.    Unusable equipment will be demanufactured into components like plastics and metals for recycling.  Reuse or recycling will be applied to whole items/systems and individual components.

* Note:  The contractor determines the reuse potential of equipment and the distribution of working models.  CVWMA is not involved in this part of the process and does not distribute equipment that has been collected.
